Management Consulting

Our management practice is based on years of experience leading organizations in significant change and performance improvement. Our approach focuses on core business procedures integrating proper leadership, organizational and informational tools (for more details, see our methodology). We help management make a quick, accurate assessment of the changes needed to achieve their objectives. Next, we work with the organization to develop a comprehensive action plan for implementing solutions and addressing change management issues. During the implementation, we assist internal change agents with status assessments, and, where needed, plan modifications.

Why use Phoenix Advantage:

Some companies question their need for an external partner to help develop solutions. They wonder how someone outside their environment can understand the situation well enough to develop solutions for problems they face daily. Phoenix Advantage does not claim to "understand better" than the client. Instead, we work to supplement the client's experiences with our own.

Phoenix Advantage doesn't enter a consultation with preconceived solutions and operating models. We start by listening, and where possible, offering our observations, opinions, and suggestions. Out of this process, solutions arise that result from combining the best of both companies' experience and knowledge.

We also have the ability to see outside the boundaries of an organization's current culture and paradigms. Sometimes values, beliefs, and expectations associated with past successes prevent companies from recognizing necessary critical changes. Our experience crosses a diversity of industries and business practices. We help clients avoid "blind spots" thus generating better solutions.

As corporate leaders, our organizations went through significant changes to improve performance. We know the stresses of changing the organization while maintaining day-to-day business. We've had to overcome cultural barriers, organizational resistance, and poor systems to achieve desired results. By adding our experience to the client's knowledge we maximize the potential for success.

A Typical Engagement:

Management consultations normally are comprised of three phases. These phases can be used in combination or contracted separately to meet each client's specific needs.

Analysis phase. This involves defining desired objectives and scope, conducting interviews, and performing data analysis. With the cooperation of the client, we can normally complete the analysis phase in one to two weeks. The deliverables are a summary of observations and a list of recommendations.

We can perform these assessments quickly because we rely on the client for accurate information. If our analysis shows the data submitted is inconsistent or incomplete, we will request further information. Phoenix Advantage can collect the data or verify accuracy upon request.

Planning phase. We work jointly with the client to review their ideas and our recommendations, and develop a list of actions. A time-phased action plan is created which covers the method of implementation, change management issues, selection of work tools, training, and communications. Ordinarily the development of the plan can be completed in a couple of meetings.

Implementation Phase. During this phase we typically assume three roles.

Project leadership. Periodically we meet with the leaders of the project to review progress, answer questions, facilitate adjustments, and coach internal change agents. We ensure that the vision is not fluctuating and decisions being made support the objectives.

Expertise. We supply operational and technical expertise as needed. We may work with a team to define a new process, select a software package, set new policies, or identify new values needed in the organization. These areas are usually defined during the Planning Phase.

Training. We provide skills, team, and management training as needed to support the implementation. The majority of our training consists of previously developed courseware with adjustments for each client's needs made during training. Training schedules are adapted to satisfy client's requirements.
